ER doing so well, it won’t be going on NBC induced hiatus

ER has regained it’s former glory of the number one slot for the 10pm Thursday night slot. While it hasn’t had huge audience gains (just under one million) it has managed to get the top spot because of weak time slot competition and the fact “Without a Trace” moved to Sundays.

But now that it is doing so well, NBC has shelved the plan that would have seen that time slot be re-run free, by having ER run for 13 weeks, then take a 13 week break while The Black Donnellys did its series run, then ER would return for the final 9 episodes of the season. But now that ER is number one, there is the fear that it could lose its momentum if another series takes its time slot for 13 weeks.

So what does this mean? It means ER will command that slot for the entire season, although we will see some reruns interspersed throughout the season.
